Taiwan Association of Cultural Policy Studies(TACPS)、Being project Executive Office
With the power of social and civil advocacy practice, the force of creative action on cultural and social influence and other issues have been paving its way into the Huashan 1914 Creative Park in various forms of plan proposals. As the TACPS launched the “Being Project: Cultural Sustainability and Innovative practice”, in cooperation with Taiwan Creative Industry Development Company, the operator of the Huashan 1914 Creative Park, as well as the Taiwan Cultural & Creativity Development Foundation. The Being Project look forward to boosting the cooperation power between the private sector and the cultural districts through the means of civil cultural initiatives.
Based on the concept of the Cultural Ecosystem, this plan seeks for strategic partners to develop with the local cultural teams from various counties and cities on the basis of the cultural economy of the cultural districts’ existing conventions, exhibitions, performances, stores, and screenings. The purpose is to promote the progress of public interests and social governance, to make the future of the cultural districts more culturally public, as well as to help the economic, cultural, and social fields to have more conversations.
This Project has already held a meeting in May 2020. 28 experts were gathered to discuss related issues and develop deep advices. Cross-professional exchange of opinions and professional opinions are used to lead the direction and decide the main facet of the project in upcoming stages, of course, with the core of cultural diversity and sustainable development in it.
It is the first year of the Being Project. In order to make the innovative content be more deeply understood by the society, the Being Project held a solicitation and a series of project briefing session in October 2020. This will be the catalyst that brings local cultural groups and civil opinion together. In November, Three strategic partner teams are formally shaped, they are : Shining Eyes Project Company, Teenager Performing Arts League, Townway Company.
As a young team, Shining Eyes Project Company is committed to regaining the gleam of people’s eyes when they devote themselves to the things they love. In Being Project, a hackathon would be held to lead participants into three cultural issues. Together the participants would draft out and explore all possible solutions and practices to the issue, while Shining Eyes Project Company be recording, leading, balancing and coaching aside.
From the participation of performing arts, the Teenager Performing Arts League realizes youth education and care. They care about special circumstance youth issues and assist children who cannot find achievement and sense of belonging in school education through drama, performance and companionship. As for Townway Company, through the means of in-depth workshops and salons, they have been ploughing on the field of local creation to expand the fields to the Asian region. They aim to reach the level of international platform with the value of sustainability and local friendly ecosystem, at the same time, trying to create a good relationship between urban and rural areas under the sustainable development of culture.
Based on the “Being Project: Cultural Sustainability and Innovative Practice”, we believe that cultural and social influence should spread and coexist within various cultural districts. Therefore, TACPS has convened teams from cultural districts across Taiwan to promote “The Vine Project”.
The Vine Project started from the Huashan 1914 Creative Park. Through workshops and forums, practitioners and related scholars can share and communicate, integrate, even leverage the operating experience together. We believe it will be the stone that support the base to construct a local knowledge system for the operation and management of Taiwan’s cultural and creative fields, starting from the cultural districts.
